At Spa Anodyne 9, we believe massage should be a deeply healing, relaxing experience—and a little preparation goes a long way in making sure it's just that. Whether you're new to massage therapy or a seasoned spa-goer, here are a few essential do’s and don’ts to help you get the most out of your time on the table.
Give yourself time to settle in. Arriving 10-15 minutes early allows you to fill out any necessary forms, use the restroom, and begin to relax before your session. Running in stressed and rushed? That’s the opposite of what we’re aiming for.
Your massage therapist is a trained professional, but they’re not a mind reader. If you have any areas of discomfort, preferences on pressure, or health concerns, speak up before and during the session. We want you to be comfortable and cared for—always.
Massage helps flush out toxins and improve circulation, so being well-hydrated can enhance those benefits. Drink water before your appointment and be sure to sip plenty afterward.
A heavy meal before a massage can leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable, while an empty stomach may leave you lightheaded. Aim for a small snack or light meal about an hour before your appointment.
Some clients prefer to fully undress, others choose to leave undergarments on—both are perfectly acceptable. You’ll always be properly draped during your massage, and your comfort is our priority.
Whether it’s body hair, a breakout, or unpolished toes, trust us—we’ve seen it all, and we’re here to help you feel better, not judge. The spa is a place of healing, not perfection.
Seems obvious, right? But many clients unknowingly hold their breath or clench their muscles during massage. Slow, deep breaths can help your body relax more deeply and allow the therapist to work more effectively.
If something doesn’t feel quite right—pressure too deep, room too cold, music too loud—please say something. We welcome feedback during and after your session.
After your massage, give yourself a few moments to reorient before hopping off the table or rushing out the door. Moving too quickly can make you feel dizzy. We encourage you to lounge, sip some water, and soak in the afterglow.
A massage is your time to disconnect, decompress, and recharge. Following these simple do’s and don’ts will help you have a smooth, stress-free session every time. If you ever have questions or need guidance, our team at Spa Anodyne 9 is always happy to help.
